The Importance of Summer Reading
At Kennedy, we know that learning extends far beyond the classroom. As our international community begins summer adventures around the world, we encourage every student to make reading part of the journey. Whether traveling to another country, visiting family, attending camp, or enjoying time at home, books provide opportunities to explore new ideas, discover different cultures, and strengthen language skills.
Reading is especially meaningful in our multilingual, multicultural community. It helps students grow as confident communicators, thoughtful global citizens, and life-long learners. We encourage students to read in English, their home language, or both. Every book and every language enriches learning.
No matter where summer takes your family, pack one of our recommendations alongside your suitcase or backpack. Just 20 minutes of reading each day will help students return to Kennedy in the fall ready to learn, curious about the world, and excited for another year of discovery.
